KUALA SELANGOR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said there is no reason not to review the remuneration scheme for civil servants this year.
In his speech at the Central Zone Madani Rakyat programme closing ceremony, Anwar said the scheme has not been updated for a decade.
"The time is right to study and review the civil servants remuneration scheme.
"Even though it has only been a year (since the unity government took power) and there are financial limits and economic problems, we must find a way. There is no reason why we cannot expedite the implementation (of a review)."
On Nov 7, the government pledged to roll out new guidelines for the civil service salary scheme by the end of 2024.
Anwar reiterated the government's stance to finalise the review, including raising the deferred payment rate. The matter will be presented to the cabinet at the next meeting.
