"These MPVs have been modified with high-tech security features, including a sophisticated 360-degree closed circuit television surveillance system, which can be monitored remotely, to facilitate the escorting process to court.

"It is also equipped with a Global Positioning System tracker device as a precautionary safety measure in case something untoward happens to the vehicle," he said at the MPV handover ceremony in Putrajaya Lake Club here, today.

Present at the handing over ceremony today was Weststar Maxus Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Julius Jonathan Netto and Smart Aim Sdn Bhd Managing director Dr Wan Aminah Wan Hassan.

He said among other technology systems available on the vehicles were centralised communication systems, walkie-talkies and run-flat tyres.

Azam said of the 17 vehicles, 14 will be distributed to each state MACC headquarters, two will be stationed at the Putrajaya MACC headquarters, while another vehicle, which has also been modified to fit weaponry, will be handed to the security division at the agency to transport weapons and other equipment.
