KAJANG: The eTesting system puts an end to the sale of 'guarantee pass' packages or licences without proper testing, says the transport minister.
Anthony Loke said 'lesen terbang' and the 'Kopi-O' licence cannot be taken lightly.
"There are old terms like 'pau', 'guarantee pass', and various others. I have repeatedly mentioned the need to abolish these.
"There will be no more such activities through the eTesting system because there is no interaction between officers and candidates.
"Everything will be tested with the computer. If a candidate fails, the computer will directly state this.
"So there will no longer be an issue of allowing someone to pass even if he fails. This is what we hope for, besides maintaining the credibility of the Road Transport Department (RTD).
"We don't want officers to be accused of various things," he told a press conference after overseeing the implementation of the eTesting programme at Surfine Hitech, Hulu Langat, here, today.
He said the ministry and RTD are committed to implementing eTesting to ensure an integrity-driven process that produces responsible drivers.
He also said discussions would be held with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to hold integrity awareness campaigns at driving institutions.
