#NSTviral: What's amiss with learner's driving licences?

KUALA LUMPUR: A woman's claims that her learner's driving licence shows a picture of another person have gone viral.

In a post on X, Quenrose @kyyrrose — Nurul Nursyakilla Muhamad Nor — claims that upon accessing the Road Transport Department's (RTD) MyJPJ app, she discovered her learner's driving licence showed a picture of another female while other details were hers.

The ID and address in the licence were correct, she said.

Her posting has so far amassed 1 million views, with over 100 comments and 5.2k shares.

User @yannashm, Nur Liyana Suhaimi, also experienced the same horror after discovering the picture used in her licence was the same as Nurul's but with her own personal information.

"I had to go to the RTD to update," she said.

For Z @Z8988048, Mohammad Nur Faiz, he claimed the same thing happened to him. "When I visited RTD, an officer said I am not the only one who faced the issue."

User @lexyxyrose said that when she wanted to renew her licence and queried why the picture was not of her, the officer at the counter said it's because the user's picture could not be uploaded into the system.

@pqrsyn shared that even she suffered from the same fate. But in her case, she had just completed her computer test (KPP01), and her physical licence showed another person's picture.

Netizens were quick to point out that rather than sharing the post on X, those affected should instead lodge a police report.

@Loverboxs advised users to check their licence just to be safe. "If you are also a victim, then we all should lodge a report in masses."

User YB Liberal @WhyBeLiberal suggested that it's wise to lodge a police report rather than post it on X.

Azira @ladymissazira suggested that a police report should be lodged in case this was an identity theft case and might be misused for crimes.
