'It is like a dream to receive a motorcycle as a gift'

KUALA LUMPUR: "Like a dream, I was wondering if anyone would really give me a motorcycle? Alhamdulillah, it became a reality," said Siti Norol Salwani Ismail, 29.

Siti Norol Salwani expressed this reaction after receiving a Yamaha LC 135 motorcycle contributed by Datuk Christopher Raj from ShekinahPR.

The contribution was presented by Christopher along with the crew of Bekpes Hot (Hot FM) at Sri Pentas, Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya on Thursday.

Siti Norol Salwani previously caught the media attention for commuting from Changkat Jering to Kuala Lumpur, a distance of about 300 kilometers, on a motorcycle to sell fresh vegetables to earn a living since the middle of last year.

She admitted that she did not expect her life story to go viral and garner attention from many, including radio stations, especially when her business came to a halt earlier this year due to her motorcycle breaking down, besides being busy with her second marriage.

"Many prayed for my safety and some suggested that I use a car (to continue my business), unfortunately, I only have a motorcycle, and I don't even know how to drive. "On Feb 22, Hot FM called me to Sri Pentas for an interview session and KJ (Khairy Jamaluddin) urged the public to donate, I never expected it to become a reality," she said when met today.

Siti Norol Salwani regards the gift as the biggest wedding gift received after tying the knot with her husband, Hazimin Radzi, 34, on Feb 16 and plans to resume business after Aidilfitri.

"Alhamdulillah, the matter became a reality when Datuk Christoper Raj along with the Bekpes Hot crew officially handed over the new motorcycle to me and my husband. I am grateful and very thankful," she said.

It was reported that Siti Norol Salwani traveled more than 300 kilometers on a motorcycle solely to earn a living for survival. She steadfastly does business once a week in Kuala Lumpur to support her 10-year-old son.
