RM500 Early Ramadan Aid does not exist

KUALA LUMPUR: Several social media accounts and websites claim that the government will distribute the so-called Early Ramadan Aid, providing a one-off RM500 to Malaysians.

However, according to the MyCheck fact-checking website, this information is fake.

"The RM500 Early Ramadan Aid does not exist; the poster displays a fake image of the prime minister and went viral last year.

"The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) has provided special Ramadan Incentives, but these are not related to the RM500 Early Ramadan Aid," it said.

One of the websites spreading the fake news provides detailed information regarding the so-called aid, making it appear genuine.

Malaysians can verify the news they read through the website MyCheck to ensure the credibility of the news.
