Trader suffers burns in freak car accident

JELEBU: A Ramadan bazaar trader, 40, suffered burns from cooking oil after his stall in Kuala Klawang was hit by a car.

Jelebu police chief Deputy Superintendent Maslan Udin, said in the 5.45pm incident yesterday, a car parked in front of the stall slid before colliding with the stall owned by the male trader from Nilai.

"The cooking pot filled with hot oil spilled and splashed onto the victim, causing 25 per cent burns to the back of his body.

"The victim was sent to Jelebu Hospital by ambulance before being transferred to Kuala Lumpur Hospital this morning," he said in a statement today.

He said it was believed that there were two children in the car without parental supervision, and that the engine was not turned off.

He urged the public with information about the incident to visit the nearby police station or contact Sergeant Azani Jusoh at 016-9752980.
