Lingga Assemblywoman addresses hardships of impoverished family in Sri Aman

SIMANGGANG: The unsafe living conditions of an impoverished family's home in Sri Aman have caught the attention of Lingga Assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

In response, Dayang Noorazah conducted a visit with Lemanak Village Head Jamali Hamden, representatives from Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), and the Sri Aman District Office to personally assess the state of the residence.

During her visit, she observed the home's structure severely compromised due to the ongoing rainy season and monsoon affecting the area, deeming it unsafe for habitation. The situation has been exacerbated by a portion of the house collapsing due to riverbank erosion, further compounding the family's distress.

Given these circumstances, Dayang Noorazah urged the present government agencies to collaborate with Jamali and the affected family to prepare a report that would qualify them for relocation to a new site and the construction of a house under the Hard-core Poor Housing Project (Projek Perumahan Rakyat Miskin Tegar - PPRT).

In the meantime, the family will be temporarily housed in a residence previously owned by the mother while arrangements for their new home are finalised. Additionally, repair works on the mother's house will commence soon, given that this structure too requires immediate attention.
