Would-be victim who ran down robber arrested

ALOR STAR: The would-be victim who mowed down a suspected robber in a high-speed chase on Tuesday has been arrested.

The victim, according to Kota Setar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Shukri Mat Akhir, has been remanded until Saturday to assist in investigations.

Ahmad Shukri said police have also arrested two men, believed to be accomplices of the robber who was mowed down.

The men, who were arrested separately in Jitra and Mergong, will be remanded until Monday.

On Tuesday, a suspected robber was killed on the spot when his motorcycle was mowed down by his would-be victim's car during a high-speed chase in Kuala Kedah.

In the 6.39am incident, the victim claimed that three men on two motorcycles attempted to rob him.

In a bid to ensure his safety, the victim accelerated his car, colliding with one of the motorcycles.

Ahmad Shukri said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and Section 393 of the Penal Code for attempted robbery.
