BATU PAHAT: A 58-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with an overtaking Toyota Vios in Jalan Muar-Parit Sulong here yesterday.
An eight-second dashcam footage of the crash showed the motorcyclist being flung almost 3m high following impact.
He was killed instantly and his motorcycle was wrecked.
Batu Pahat district deputy police chief Superintendent Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the Vios driver was heading for Parit Sulong from Muar when he tried to overtake a car by entering the opposite lane, where the motorcyclist was travelling towards Muar
The victim was identified as Mohd Riduan Abdullah.
The 24-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and tested negative for drugs.
The incident is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving, which provides for up to 10 years' jail and a fine of up to RM50,000.
