Dr Akmal lodges report over death threat

JASIN: Umno Youth Chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Salleh has made a police report following a death threat he received today.

The report was filed at the Jasin district police headquarters (IPD) at approximately 5pm today.

Dr Akmal, who is also Jasin Umno division chief, said the report was made to protect himself and his family from any threats.

"I was hesitant to file the report at first, but I realised it was a serious concern to safeguard my family members' safety from future threats.

"I hope the police will conduct an investigation and we will wait for the outcome," he said when contacted.

Meanwhile, Jasin District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Ahmad Jamil Radzi, confirmed receiving the report.

Earlier today, Dr Akmal claimed he received a death threat from an unknown party against him over his stand on the "Allah" socks issue.

In a video uploaded on Facebook, the Merlimau state assemblyman claimed that he was alerted to the threat via a phone call while he was on his way to a programme in Lipat Kajang this morning.
