"Oh, I'm so scared… I better repent", Pua scoffs at Umno youth chief over police report threat

KUALA LUMPUR: A senior DAP leader has scoffed at the Umno Youth chief following the latter's threat to lodge police reports against him over his recent online comments on Datuk Seri Najib Razak's pardon.

Tony Pua, in a Facebook posting following Dr Muhammad Akmal Saleh's threats, said: "Oooh... (the) Umno youth chief wants police reports against 'insolent' Pua... I thought my days of police reports were over.

"And my missus is upset, so I better repent."

Pua then continued with a snide address to Najib, saying that he's "excited to hear of Najib's well-deserved 50 per cent reduced sentence with a 74 per cent reduced fine."

"Dear Najib, I'm so excited to hear of your well-deserved 50 per cent commuted sentence to 2028, and a 74 per cent fine reduction from RM210mil," Pua wrote with an emoticon at the end.

"I'm also pleased to hear that for an additional year's detention at His Majesty's pleasure, you will further save a handsome RM50 million [money bag emoticon].

"I am certain that you will use all these hard-earned savings to help all the orphans and the impoverished, as you have done in the past."

Pua then turned up the dial on his sneer and proceeded to write:

"What's more, I understand that if you demonstrate 'good behaviour', you will enjoy greater discounts in your sentence! Gosh, we can look forward to you campaigning for Umno in the 2027 General Elections!

"In the meantime, I also understand that your loving wife might soon join you for a couple of years to keep you company.

"As for your outstanding cases on 1MDB. I'm not worried. After all, your former Deputy succeeded in getting himself a DNAA. In the worst case scenario, we can ask for more discounts.

"What joy! We are all looking forward (to it). Hang in there! Yours truly, Tony Pua."

Before ending his post, Pua alluded back to Dr Akmal's warning against his comments about the Pardons Board's decision on Najib.

"I hope that with this remorseful post, I will receive a pardon from Umno Youth, and spare me the trip to Bukit Aman (again). I'm pretty sure the Royal Malaysian Police have got some better things to do.

Earlier, Pua shared a series of cryptic messages on his Facebook page after the Pardons Board decided to reduce Najib's jail sentence by 50 per cent and slashed his fine from RM50 million to RM210 million.

"I beg your pardon?" wrote the former Damansara member of Parliament.

In a separate posting on the same social media platform, Pua wrote: "Can someone send me to jail for one year and, in exchange, pay me RM50 mil (million)? Pretty please?"

Although Pua did not explicitly refer to individuals or groups in particular, the social media postings came about after the Federal Territories Pardons Board announced its decision on Najib's application.
