Selangor ruler presents aid to 500 people tonight

PETALING JAYA: Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah tonight presented financial aid to 500 orphans, single mothers and others in need at an event at Masjid Tengku Kelana Jaya Petra here.

His Majesty and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin also broke fast and performed tarawih prayers with the aid recipients and residents.

Organiser Yayasan Malaysian Corporation Bhd's (MRCB) representative, Toh Indera Jaya Datuk Ishak Mohamed, who is executive deputy president, said the event was held for the needy to break fast and perform prayers with His Majesty and Selangor government leaders.

"At this evening's event, Yayasan MRCB distributed cash aid to 500 recipients, 300 of whom are single mothers and asnaf from the Hajah Kamariah Orphanage and Single Mothers Association, and converts, as well as cash aid to 200 orphans.

"MRCB hopes the aid can ease their struggles and provide a glimmer of happiness to them," he said in his speech.

He expressed his appreciation to the Office of the Sultan of Selangor, the Selangor state secretary, the Selangor Department of Islamic Affairs and the mosque committee for organising the event.

Present were Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil and his wife, Azrina Puteri Mohamed Mahyuddin.

Yayasan MRCB has organised 80 programmes that benefited 200,000 B40 recipients.
