1,631 road accidents, 18 deaths recorded on eve of Hari Raya

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 1,631 road accidents and 18 deaths were recorded nationwide yesterday, the second day of the police's Op Selamat.

Previously, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain reminded holidaygoers to be vigilant and exercise patience during their travels back to their respective hometowns.

He advised road users planning to go back to their village, or go on vacation, to adopt these qualities when driving, for the safety and sake of their loved ones, to ensure that they reach their destinations safely.

Under Op Selamat, police are focused on curbing six key offences including driving over the speed limit, running red lights, the use of mobile phones while driving, and misusing the emergency lane.
