Youth dies in accident while returning home to fulfil vow to father

BATU PAHAT: A student's promise to present his diploma to his father will remain unfulfilled when he died in an accident on the North-South Expressway last night.

Fadzri Aiman, 20, had just graduated from Kolej Vokasional Bukit Katil, Melaka, and was returning home to Taman Johor Jaya in Johor Baru when tragedy struck about 10.30pm.

Fadzri Aiman's father, Mohd Fadzli Ramli said he was waiting for his son at home, eager to see the diploma in industrial machining that he would bring back.

"He promised to bring back the diploma to show it to me, but what returned was his body," he said when met at the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital (HSNI) forensic unit today.

Fadzli recalled that in the last conversation he had with Fadzri Aiman, his son promised: "Papa will receive the diploma. I'll give it to Papa." That was his promise to me before he informed me that he was heading back from Bukit Katil to Johor Jaya.

"I waited for his return until I fell asleep. When I woke up around midnight, his brother told me of his death."

Fadzli said he nearly collapsed when receiving the news, unable to comprehend that his son had left forever.

"Despite the deep sorrow in my heart, there is some solace knowing that my son died during the blessed month of Ramadan, on a night before Friday... in the last 10 nights of Ramadan. All of this is in Allah's plan."

Fadzri Aiman's grandfather, Shahrum Hassan, 60, said he tried to call his grandson about 11pm but couldn't get through.

"Not long after, I was informed of the accident. I initially assumed it was a minor incident.

"Later, the police contacted me to deliver the devastating news," he said.

Fadzri Aiman's younger brother, Muhammad Fadzmi Aiman, said his brother was scheduled to start work in Gelang Patah on April 24 after completing his interview.

"He was eager to embark on his career while furthering studies. Yet, all these dreams are now memories that will linger with us," he said.

Acting Batu Pahat police chief Superintendent Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the accident involved two cars and the motorcycle ridden by the victim.

Shahrulanuar Mushaddat said a car that decelerated to enter the left lane had grazed Fadzri Aiman's motorcycle.

"That car had technical issues with the engine, prompting the driver to switch lanes.

"Following the contact, the victim fell into the right lane and was subsequently struck by another car from the same direction.

"Suffering severe injuries, the victim was rushed to HSNI for treatment. Tragically, several hours later, he died of his injuries due to significant blood loss, while both car drivers are unhurt.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Those with information are urged to call the nearest police station, the Johor police hotline at 07-2212999 or the Batu Pahat police hotline at 07-4343999."
