Findings on tourist guide killed by falling rock to be presented to Perak exco tomorrow

PARIT BUNTAR: The investigation report on a tourist guide who was killed by a falling rock at the Qing Xing Ling Leisure and Cultural Village in Taman Saikat last week will be presented to the Perak state executive council (exco) tomorrow.

State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee said the findings of the investigation had been presented at a meeting of the special committee for the development of caves and foothills in Perak yesterday.

"So, the investigation report will be brought to the exco and discussed tomorrow to obtain recommendations from the state authorities, and will be announced later," he said when asked about the report at the opening of the 50-megawatt solar power plant and the handover of Perumahan Perak Sejahtera loan offer letters to 30 residents in the Kerian River reserve.

Also present was Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

On April 8, Ipoh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said a 44-year-old local man died when he was crushed by a rock in the village around 11.30am.

The victim, from Pulau Pangkor, was accompanying his Vietnamese friend to visit the tourist spot.

Following that, the area was temporarily closed.
