BAGAN SERAI: A police report was lodged following a post on X which was insulting towards the military personnel who died in the collision between two armed forces helicopters in Lumut yesterday.
Media practitioner, Kamal Abas, 51, lodged the report last night at the Kerian district police headquarters, on the owner of the X account by the name of Saifuddin Shafik.
"He (Saifuddin Shafik) made a comment with the words "Just finished the rehearsal and died. (They) didn't even have a chance to go to war". ("Baru raptai dah mampos.Tak sempat nak perang".)
"The statement is rude and should not have been uttered at a time when so many people, especially the families of the victims, are in grief over the loss of a family member," he said.
He added that such behaviour was beyond the limits of moral norms as enshrined in the fifth pillar of the country, which is Courtesy and Morality.
Kamal said he hoped that the authorities would impose an appropriate punishment on the perpetrators as a lesson.
He also asked social media users who came across any posts or comments insulting the military personnel who were victims of the accident to also take action to file a police report.
