863 police, military personnel to cast ballots in early voting for Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election [NSTTV]

KUALA KUBU BARU: A total of 863 police and military personnel are set to cast their ballots in early voting for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, today.

The early voting for the constituency will see 624 police personnel and 238 military personnel alongside their spouses at two early voting centres with three polling streams.

Meanwhile, both voting centres, Maktab Polis Diraja Malaysia and the Fourth Infantry Division Regiment in Kuala Kubu Baharu will open from 8am until 5pm, today.

At the same time, it is expected that Election Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh will also visit both voting centres.

The by-election taking place on May 11 will see a four-corner fight against Pakatan Harapan's (PH) Pang Sock Tao, Perikatan Nasional's Khairul Azhari Saut, Parti Rakyat Malaysia's Hafizah Zainuddin and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin.

The by-election was triggered by the passing of its three-term assemblywoman from DAP, Lee Kee Hiong, from cancer.

In the Selangor state election last year, Lee helped DAP, a component party of PH, to retain Kuala Kubu Baharu after she polled a majority of 4,119 votes in a four-cornered fight at the state seat.

Kuala Kubu Baharu is a mixed seat, with Malays comprising 50 per cent of the electorate, followed by Chinese (30 per cent) and Indians (18 per cent).
