PH, PN candidates visit voting centre ahead of KKB early voting

KUALA KUBU BAHARU: Both the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidates paid a visit to the voting centres ahead of the early voting for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, this morning.

Pang Sock Tao from PH arrived at 9.05am while Khairul Azhari Saut from PN arrived slightly later at 9.08am.

Upon arrival, both of them also paid a visit to the polling stations to observe the voting process.

Pang when met later said she was satisfied with the process as the services provided by Election Commission (EC) personnel ensured a smooth polling process.

"The situation (of the early voting) is going smoothly and I thank those involved in making the process easier," she said while urging city folks to come out and vote for the Kuala Kubu by-election on Saturday

Similarly, Khairul Azhari also said the process was smooth with 'good' voter turnout as of 9.30pm, today.

"This is my first experience in a by-election as a candidate. The situation (early voting process ) is very good and the voter turnout is amazing, hence, I am satisfied."

A total of 863 police and military personnel are set to cast their ballots in early voting for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, today.

The early voting for the constituency will see 624 police personnel and 238 military personnel alongside their spouses at two early voting centres with three polling streams.

Meanwhile, both voting centres, Maktab Polis Diraja Malaysia and the Fourth Infantry Division Regiment in Kuala Kubu Baharu will open from 8am until 5pm, today.

The by-election taking place on May 11 will see a four-corner fight against Pakatan Harapan's (PH) Pang Sock Tao, Perikatan Nasional's Khairul Azhari Saut, Parti Rakyat Malaysia's Hafizah Zainuddin and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin.

The by-election was triggered by the passing of its three-term assemblywoman from DAP, Lee Kee Hiong, from cancer.
