#NSTviral: Couple's dream honeymoon to Turkiye washed away due to wet passport [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A couple's dream honeymoon plans to Turkiye were dashed due to a husband's wet passport.

In a TikTok video shared by @fikryyazman, the husband admitted his mistake for getting his passport wet.

"Our intention was to go to Turkiye for our honeymoon and celebrate birthdays as well.

"A total of RM16,000 went down the drain and we were excited until we reached Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Allah has His own plans for us, and we accept them with open arms. Forgive me, my love. We were not able to go there," he wrote in a regretful caption.

In the comment section, he further clarified that he worked in Singapore and had been commuting back and forth; unfortunately, on Saturday, it was pouring rain, hence the wet passport.

Netizens suggested various ways to minimise his losses, such as refunding flight tickets, rescheduling the flight or renewing the passport at the immigration post at KLIA.

However, Fikry had booked his trip to Turkey under a tour group, and the RM16,000 paid for the trip could not be recovered.

The 33-second video has garnered over 480,000 views and 6,262 likes, with netizens flooding the comments section to share their own experiences.

TikTok user @PeekMyCart shared her misfortune; "My husband experienced this in Jakarta. His passport got wet. It was fine in Malaysia, but upon arrival in Jakarta, it was rejected and he was sent back on the next flight."

@Yayan.yaniiii said "I have also been rejected because I did not bring my child's birth certificate, even though I have my child's MyKid. It was quite disheartening, especially just four days before Hari Raya. In the end, we bought new tickets for the evening flight, and it was okay using MyKid."

However, some comforted them, saying that God would replace the trip with better arrangements in the future while suggesting ways to rectify the situation.

@Tripletsmom__ said "Allah will replace it with the best. Believe it. My husband and I paid to go to Turkiye, and suddenly there was a lockdown (during Covid-19). It was heartbreaking. It took years to get our money back."

@NorlailiOsman said "Be patient, Fik. Everything happens for a reason. Accept and be patient. Allah's plans are the best."

@bukanusernamesaya suggested, "If it were me, I would reschedule the flight, settling the passport issue, since the hotel and other arrangements are already paid. Inform the hotel and reschedule the flight."

@momotea_elle_elle said "Please have a ziplock bag ready to keep your passport. I use a ziplock bag to hold my passport during travel; let people see me like someone just emerged from the forest."
