#NSTviral: Police hunts suspects in brazen Kota Masai mobile phone store break-in on New Year [Watch]

PASIR GUDANG: Two men broke into a mobile phone store and escaped with almost RM20,000 worth of phones and gadgets in Jalan Betik 1, Taman Kota Masai here yesterday.

A three-minute and 16-second long footage of the break-in, captured on closed-circuit-television (CCTV), was uploaded by Dewi Shari on the 'Komuniti Kota Masai' Facebook page.

Dewi Shari, in her post, related the challenge she experienced on the first day of the new year.

"This is where my husband and I earn our livelihood…why do some people's heart resemble the devil's," she posted.

She urged members of the FB page to be on the lookout for anyone who attempted to sell mobile phones below the market value.

Meanwhile Seri Alam police chief Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi Ishak confirmed a report was lodged by the 35-year-old robbery victim.

"The footage uploaded is of the robbery, and investigations are underway to identify the culprits," he said, adding the break-in occurred yesterday at 4.38am.

The victims lost 16 mobile phones of various make, valued at RM 19,161.00.

The shop was also damaged when two men wearing helmets forced open the shutter gate of the store's entrance and ransacked the place, before escaping with the phones.

The case investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for break-in, which comes with a 14-year imprisonment term and a fine, upon conviction.
