#NSTviral: Cashier reunited with last RM50 gift from late father after four years

KUALA LUMPUR: It never crossed the mind of 25-year-old cashier Nur Hidayah Mohamad that she would be reunited with the last RM50 given by her late father after four years.

However, this was made possible after the RM50 banknote with the note "last money father gave, 11/5/20, al-Fatihah" written on it went viral on Facebook recently.

The note that touched the netizen's heart was shared by Azfarul Zainol, 35, who expressed a wish to track down its owner on Tuesday.

Hidayah said her father passed away due to kidney problems, and she admitted to having to use the money a few months later due to urgent circumstances, the media reported.

"At that time, that was the only money left in the wallet, and going to the ATM was quite far.

"I had to use it, and at that time, in my heart, I already thought, God willing, I can get it back later.

"I did not expect to recover this money after four years," she was quoted as saying.

Hidayah expressed her happiness and gratitude after receiving the money back from Azfarul in Kuantan, today.

"When it went viral that day, seeing the date and the inscription made me confident that it was my money, and I contacted Mohd Azfarul on Facebook.

"I will take care of it as best as I can from now on because it is the last spending money given by my late father, with many memories for me," she added.

Meanwhile, Mohd Azfarul felt relieved and grateful to be able to return the money to its owner.

"Thankfully, everything has come to an end and the owner has been found.

"I handed over this money to Nur Hidayah after examining the evidence and the date of her father's death on various social media platforms," he said.

The money was obtained when Azfarul withdrew some money from an ATM at a gas station in Gambang at around 4.15pm on Monday.

On Tuesday, he made a post on his Facebook to track down the owner of the money, and it went viral on social media.
