#NSTviral: Roller coaster derails at Raub funfair, netizens raise safety concerns

KUALA LUMPUR: A video clip purportedly showing a roller coaster train derailing from its track at a funfair near Raub, Pahang, has gone viral on social media.

The footage gained traction after it was shared by a Facebook user in the 'Penduduk Raub Pahang' group.

In the video, several visitors, including a distressed child who appeared to be in pain as a result of the incident, could be seen.

Concurrently, the video captured the sounds of a woman screaming in distress.

"What's happening at the Raub funfair? People being thrown off," the caption read.

However, as confirmed in the comment section, the victim Nur Izzati Mohamed Kamil, clarified that she suffered a broken rib and her child's knee was swollen.

She said the management of the funfair had contacted her and would take responsibility for the incident.

"I, the victim of the Raub funfair roller coaster, am in good condition except for my broken rib and my child's swollen knee, which still causes difficulty in movement.

"We have dealt with the management and they have taken responsibility for me and my child... They have also come to meet us and apologise on their behalf," she wrote.

Several social media users expressed fear and cautioned others against attending such an unsafe funfair.

"That's why I don't let my kids play at these funfairs. Afraid something like this might happen. It's not about the expensive tokens. But I don't trust the things at these funfairs to be safe," commented @Sojanah Joe.

"Luckily I didn't go... my kids have asked to go many times but my heart feels heavy," said user @Irdina Elisya.

"I have never even set foot there. It's just wasting money going to places like that. How about our safety?" questioned @Laicie Ais.
