KUALA LUMPUR: A video circulating on social media has drawn criticism after allegedly capturing the reckless actions of an electric scooter rider engaging in a race against other motorcycles on a stretch of highway.
In the video, the electric scooter can be seen dangerously speeding at break-neck speed against a Yamaha RXZ motorcycle in an apparent promotional video to showcase the scooter's abilities.
The recording appears to have been made on a public road, with other vehicles visible in the footage.
Whilst weaving in and out of lanes, the onboard video also indicated the purported speed of the scooter, reaching upwards of 230km/h.
The video, which has since been viewed more than 500,000 times on Facebook received negative reactions from netizens over the blatant disregard for safety by the riders.
In the comments section, user Faridzul Azizan urges the authorities to take action.
"Clearly they are racing, arrest them," he wrote.
Mat Nis commented: "That's good, what a way to encourage the younger generation to die on the roads."
Meanwhile, Andi Rahman Danial said: "This is a quick way to reach the afterlife."
