Ampang PKR clarifies Adam's position in party

KUALA LUMPUR: Ampang PKR today clarified today that its Youth chief Adam Rosly is not a special officer to either Ampang Member of Parliament Zuraida Kamaruddin or Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The division's secretary Sabri Abu Bakar, in a statement, said that Adam did not hold any state political appointments, including in the local council.

"This clarification is important because the media has been using that position (special officer) in their reports.

"The real fact is, Adam was elected as the Ampang Youth chief after he contested and won the position legitimately during the party election in 2014.

"Adam has carried out his duties as the Ampang Youth chief very well and works well with other party members," he said.

Adam was recently arrested by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) following an investigation into his “unusual” wealth.

MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Azam Baki reportedly said that Adam was being probed under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.

As for the allegations against Adam, Sabri said that the division was holding to the principle that "a person is innocent until proven guilty".
