MCA candidate likely to get Gelang Patah seat, says Johor BN

JOHOR BARU: Johor Barisan Nasional is likely to field an MCA candidate in the Gelang Patah parliamentary seat in the upcoming general election.

State BN chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said it has been decided by the state coalition that the seat will most likely be allocated to the MCA, as it was traditionally contested and won by an MCA candidate prior to the 2013 general election.

"BN will field a candidate in all the seats. There will be no seats that we will leave out or just rely on winning unopposed.

"The Gelang Patah seat will possibly be given to the MCA. The candidate will be decided by the party leadership," said Khaled after chairing the Johor Umno Liaison Committee meeting at the state party's headquarters today.

He was commenting on DAP adviser and Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang, who reiterated his intention to defend the seat.
