KUCHING: Sarawak DAP is expected to announce tomorrow its legal action against the state legislative assembly for disqualifying its Pujut assemblyman, Dr Ting Tiong Choon.
Its chairman, Chong Chieng Jen, said an emergency committee meeting will be held at the party headquarters on Sunday, followed by a press conference at 3.30pm.
"As we said earlier, we are looking (at the decision from a) legal perspective, and whether (it) can be challenged in court.
“We will decide (on the next course of action) after the meeting," he told reporters at the Stutong Market here, after a Mothers' Day event.
Ting was disqualified by the state legislative assembly for allegedly holding Australian citizenship.
A ministerial motion was moved by Second Minister, Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh, and was voted on by 70 assemblymen, in favour of his disqualification.
