Zuraida to step down as PKR Wanita chief, handing over post to deputy

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin is stepping down from her post and will be replaced by her deputy, Haniza Talha.

Zuraida, in a press conference at the PKR Wanita congress here today, said she would not be defending her post in the next party election.

"This is my last term. I won't be contesting for the Wanita chief post in the party election.

"Haniza is the next person in line and right now, I am in the process of handing over (the post) to her."

Haniza is a two-term state assemblyman for Taman Medan in Selangor.

Asked if the decision to relinquish her post had anything to do with Ampang PKR Youth chief Datuk Adam Rosly Abdullah's court case, Zuraida, who is also Ampang PKR chief said: "Definitely not, it is a non-issue."

On April 21, Adam was charged with giving false statements and forged documents to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) during investigations into his unusual wealth.
