Perak PPBM unravels further as two division chiefs quit

IPOH: The rift between leaders of Perak Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) shows no signs of healing, as its Batu Gajah Srikandi chief, Zulaiha Sidiq - who is also an exco member – relinquished her two posts with immediate effect.

Zuhaila, along with Srikandi Gopeng chief Aflatuniah Md Norani, stepped down in a show of protest against PPBM’s top leadership and the brewing state-level conflict.

"The top leadership must give serious attention to issues in the state before things worsen. There shouldn't be finger-pointing in the party, but this is happening in PPBM.

"The rift between the leaders does not reflect the party motto of ‘Bersatu, Bermaruah, Beramanah’," she said.

The duo, however, remain party members.

Zuhaila also urged the party’s deputy president, Datuk Hamidah Osman – who was instrumental in establishing PPBM in Perak – to intervene and address the issues faced by the state.

On her resignation, she said she has informed the state leadership, including PPBM Srikandi chief Rina Harun and Perak PPBM chief Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

"I am willing to face any (disciplinary) action by the top leadership for my decision," she told a press conference today.
