Pakatan Harapan's 'ship with three captains' will sink: Zahid

TANGKAK: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today said the Pakatan Harapan's leadership line-up, with three individuals at the helm, is set for failure.

Likening the structure to a ship with three captains, the deputy prime minister said the people should analyse and compare the opposition pact's formula with Barisan Nasional's power sharing policy which has worked well for the country so far.

He said the opposition pact was unlike the BN parties, which have long and solid track record of serving the people.

“Logically, a ship which has three captains will be in trouble because one captain would want to sail to the right, while the other to the left, the ship is doomed to sink.

“We are not questioning their decision, that’s their problem, but we want the people to analyse this. If they have different route maps and which way are they going?" said Zahid when opening the Ledang Umno division delegates conference here today.

He was commenting on the Pakatan Harapan's appointment of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the pact's chairman, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the de facto leader and Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the president.

Zahid further explained that through the power-sharing concept, BN had showed that it had never marginalised the rights and interest of the people.

“Yes, Umno has been championing the Malays and Islam, but at the same time, the non-Malays and non-Muslims have never been marginalised.

"That is BN’s power-sharing policy,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zahid said the Registrar of Societies (RoS) should remain professional when Pakatan Harapan submits its registration soon.

He said the registration should be processed based on requirements under the Societies Act 1966.

"The RoS must be professional when processing the registration of Pakatan Harapan." said Zahid.
