Refusal to sign CFP proves DAP's hypocrisy: Ismail Sabri

TAMPIN: The DAP-led Penang state government’s refusal to sign the corruption-free pledge (CFP) prepared by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission proved that it practised hypocrisy said UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Rural and Regional Development Minister said DAP’s attitude was contrary to Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto in which one of the agenda was to eliminate corruption in 100 days if they won the 14th general election.

“Barisan Nasional (BN) have been accused of many things including corrupt practices but all BN-led state governments have already signed the pledge.

“Even we in the ministry have signed it,” he told reporters when asked for his comments, after launching the state-level ‘Anugerah Desa Perdana’ presentation for the central and southern zones here today.

On Saturday, MACC chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad said MACC regretted Penang’s refusal to sign the pledge which is a commitment to combat corruption, the country’s number one enemy.

Earlier on July 12, the Penang state government described the principle of ‘Competency, Accountability and Transparency’ which it adopted in 2008 as more effective in preventing corruption and power abuse. — BERNAMA
