Dr M to prove his worth with action, says Nurul Izzah

KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will have to prove his worth to the Pakatan Harapan through his actions, said PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar.

Nurul Izzah, who was commenting on Suaram advisor Dr Kua Kia Soong's recent statement with regards to the appointment of Dr Mahathir as Pakatan chairman, said the coalition needed to remain open, welcoming and inclusive in it's efforts to unify all parties concerned.

"In Pakatan Harapan, in the spirit of unifying all sectors for a better Malaysia, we need to be open minded, we need to be welcoming and inclusive in our efforts.

"And that is why for me, the bulwark against any possible derailment of our agenda, is the reform pledges, a commitment to implement an institutional reform across the board.

"We will definitely have to prove our pledges with actions. It is the same for Tun Dr Mahathir. He has to prove his worth with actions," she said.

Nurul Izzah, who is also Lembah Pantai MP, was speaking to reporters during her visit to the PPR Kampung Muhibbah here today.

She added that Pakatan welcomes and appreciates feedback from all quarters.

Kua on Thursday said the appointment of Dr Mahathir as the Pakatan chairman was one of the biggest betrayal to the 'Reformasi' (reformation) movement, which was mobilised to appose the former prime minister.

Kua had said that the outcome of Dr Mahathir's appointment would be the need for the coalition to answer for all his past purported scandals including the alleged RM30 billion in foreign exchange scandals during his term.
