DAP trio want RoS to intervene, publish full list of party members who voted in 2012 CEC poll

PUTRAJAYA: Three DAP delegates today urged the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to make public the full list of 2,576 party members who voted in the party's Central Executive Committee (CEC) election in 2012.

The trio; L. Paneerselvam, G. Asoghan and A. Thirumalvalavan were present at the RoS office at Complex D here today, to submit three separate memoranda seeking the body's intervention.

The Taman Ehsan, Klang DAP vice-president Paneerselvam urged that all the delegates' names, their identification card numbers and the branch they belong to, be published in the mainstream media including the newspapers.

"This is to show to the people that the party is transparent, credible and has nothing to hide.

"We have no confidence in DAP holding the election (transparently) without the publishing of the list in the mainstream media as we fear the party will bring in phantom voters or false delegates.

"In the 2013 elections, DAP had brought in phantom voters from an additional 120 branches. Therefore we don't have any trust in the DAP's election process," he claimed.

"We also want an independent audit firm recognised by RoS to run and oversee the CEC election. This firm should not be associated or aligned with DAP,"

He added that RoS must step in and view this problem seriously.

"We only want genuine delegates to forward and cast their votes."

Asoghan was former president of DAP Bagan Luar Branch while Thirumalvalavan is the DAP Taman Murni, Sepang vice-president.

In 2013, RoS had ordered a re-election of DAP’s CEC after it found irregularities and manipulation of votes by the party in its initial election in December 2012.

After the re-election, some party members had claimed that they were denied the right to attend the party congress as delegates.

In June this year, RoS director-general Datuk Mohammad Razin Abdullah instructed DAP to hold a re-election of the party’s CEC, saying that it is necessary as the election of CEC members and key positions via a re-election on Sept 29, 2013 was deemed unlawful.

RoS said last month, the re-election will be based on the 2012 delagates list.

To date, DAP has not yet fixed a date to hold its CEC re-election.
