Disgruntled taxi drivers leaving PPBM because party 'abandoned' them

JOHOR BARU: A group of 15 taxi drivers in Gelang Patah here have decided to leave Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) after they felt abandoned by the party.

Their representative, Suhaimi Mohamed Said said the decision was made after none of the party's representatives had met with them after they joined the party earlier this year.

"We joined the party when their representative, a woman called Ita, approached us just before the fasting month and said that the party would pay us RM500 to ferry voters during the next general election, on the condition that we join PPBM.

"However, since then, the party have not done anything for us. They have not even come to meet us and ask us how we are doing or if there were any problems that we are facing," said Suhaimi at a Press conference today.

He said the taxi drivers who were quitting PPBM were doing so on their own and without pressure from anybody.

"There were actually 30 taxi drivers who joined the party at the time," said Suhaimi.
