Sabah PH component parties discuss GE14 seats allocation

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Pakatan Harapan chairman Christina Liew said negotiation on seats allocation for the upcoming 14th General Election is almost complete.

She said the discussion between the state's PKR, DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (PAN) has started recently and now at 90 per cent completion.

"Of course there are a few overlapping seats but I believe we are able to settle this among ourselves. Once done, we will work with other (local) opposition parties.

"We have an idea (which parties to work with) and our doors are open... PH is the real (opposition) as we are waiting to be the next government," she said.

Liew, who heads the state's PKR, said this after attending the Sabah PH's Malaysia Day celebration and soft launch of PH Manifesto here, today.

Present were PH and PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail; Amanah vice president Hassanuddin Mohd Yunus; acting DAP national chairman Tan Kok Wai; Sabah PH deputy chairmen Stephen Wong, who is also state's DAP chairman, and Hamzah Abdullah, who is the head of state's PAN.

Liew said Sabah PH is now looking at partnering with one or two local political parties that are "genuine' and have similar values.

She said Sabah PH is not interested in discussing with opposition parties that are Barisan Nasional-friendly.

"I will not say which party...But we (as the opposition) must agree and understand each other because if we are divided, the chances (of forming the next government) will be less," said Liew.

Meanwhile, Wan Azizah announced five new deals for Sabah that were listed in its state manifesto.

The five primary points were people's regional leadership rights, fair petroleum rights, fair industrial and basic infrastructure development, quality education and equal economic development.
