Pakatan Harapan Melaka discusses seat distributions for upcoming polls

MELAKA: Discussion for seats among Pakatan Harapan coalition parties is expected to be tense, said Pakatan Harapan Melaka vice chairman Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.

Shamsul admitted that there was no specific formula in deciding the placement of candidates among the opposition parties aside from having a 'reasonable distribution of seats' for all of its coalition members.

"There is no specific formula, but we will distribute seats based on the preparedness of the parties to contest, high winnability probability of the candidates and an equal distribution of seats without a huge gap in the coalition.

"We are almost done at the parliamentary level with two seats left to discuss, and discussion for state seats will start next week.

"I am sure that discussions (for state seat distribution) will be tense because Melaka have become the focus of Pakatan Harapan and we want to make sure that parties contesting must field candidates who can truly bring victory," he told a press conference after the announcement of Pakatan Harapan Melaka's coalition leadership at Graha Amanah Melaka in Bukit Katil here, Sunday.

Present were state Parti Amanah Negara chairman Adly Zahari, state Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof, and state DAP chairman Tey Kok Kiew.

Meanwhile, Pakatan Harapan Melaka secretary Khoo Poay Tiong said announcement of candidates would definitely surprise Barisan Nasional (BN).

"When the name list is announced, it would be of many surprises for BN and it is our strategy to topple BN.

"Just wait and see. When the time comes, then we will announce," said Khoo.

Earlier today, Adly announced the new Pakatan Harapan Melaka leadership line-up and the launch of its logo, citing the move as part of its preparation for the upcoming polls.

The new line-up included Adly as the Pakatan Harapan chairman, Shamsul, Mohd Redzuan and Tey as vice-chairmen.
