Pas reminds Anak Bukit rep, who left party for PPBM, of 'bai'ah' in 1999

ALOR STAR: Pas assemblyman Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah’s decision to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) came as no surprise to members of the Islamic party.

However, it state commissioner Dr Ahmad Fakhruddin Syeikh Fakhrurazi reminded the Anak Bukit assemblyman that he has broken the party's ‘bai’ah’ (pledge) which he made when joining the party in 1999.

“Maybe he has forgotten but Kedah Pas too has its own 'bai’ah'. Although, it is not as serious as 'talak' (divorce pronouncement),” he said when contacted.

Yesterday, the state legislative assembly opposition leader announced his decision to leave Pas for PPBM.

Amiruddin was quoted as saying that his decision to join PPBM after being told that it was “impossible” for the Islamic party to work with Pakatan Harapan.

He said he was left with no choice but to leave Pas as he wanted to help defeat Barisan Nasional at the state and federal levels.

Amiruddin also claimed that he was not bound to any 'bai’ah' with Pas.

Ahmad Fakhruddin disagreed saying that similar to Kelantan, Pas in Kedah also has its own pledge that need to be adhered by all members.

But, he declined to elaborate further on the detail of the pledge.
