Guan Eng mum on proposal of Tun M as interim Prime Minister

GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng dodged questions on Sunday on a proposal for Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to be made interim Prime Minister if the pact comes to power in the 14th general election (GE14).

Lim, who is also the Pakatan Harapan (PH) deputy president, deflected by saying that such matters should be discussed at the coalition's presidential council before a decision can be made.

"I was not at (PPBM’s Annual General Meeting, AGM). I do not want to (base my comments) on reports by the mass media.

"Let us wait for this to be discussed at the Pakatan Harapan presidential council. That is all I want to say," he said here.

During the PPBM's inaugural AGM in Shah Alam on Saturday, its deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir expressed his hope that Dr Mahathir would become PH’s prime ministerial candidate, as he is qualified for the post.

Party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin also expressed confidence that Dr Mahathir could steer the government, should PH win the GE14.
