Poster featuring Azmin as PM candidate goes viral

KUALA LUMPUR: A poster, featuring what could be Pakatan Harapan's pro-tem cabinet line-up has caught the public's attention and gone viral today.

Instead of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the expected prime minister candidate, the poster placed Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali as the candidate for the top post.

It also featured Kedah’s former menteri besar and Dr Mahathir’s son, Datuk Seri Mukhriz as deputy prime minister.

Several quarters believed the poster was a counter attack against Dr Mahathir’s bid to make himself the pact’s prime minister candidate.

Surprisingly, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) deputy president and former deputy prime minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was nowhere in the line-up.

However, Parti Warisan Sabah’s president, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal was featured there despite the party not being part of the pact.

When contacted by the New Straits Times, PKR leader, Sivarasa Rasiah denied that the poster was made by the party as no discussion on the line-up was made.

“I have no knowledge of the poster. As far as I am concerned, there has never been any discussion on the cabinet line-up by PKR or Pakatan Harapan.

“Clearly, this was just made by a third party and not by the party itself,” he said.

Yesterday, Dr Mahathir said the pact’s prime ministerial candidate would be announced on Sunday during the Pakatan Harapan’s convention.

He said other announcements regarding the pact’s future plans would also be announced on the same day.

He declined to give any details on matters discussed during the four-hour meeting with Pakatan Harapan leaders.
