Pahang PAN unhappy with only 1 parliamentary seat

KUANTAN: Pahang Parti Amanah Negara (PAN) has expressed disappointment with Pakatan Harapan's decision that sees the party contesting only one parliamentary seat in the state for the 14th General Election.

This was revealed by its deputy chairman Syed Hamid Syed Mohamed when contacted today.

"If I want to say I agree or not, of course I am not satisfied as PAN was only allowed to contest at Temerloh despite us wanting several others (parliamentary seats).

"However, we must set aside our disappointment and dissatisfaction for the bigger agenda of toppling the Barisan Nasional (BN) government," said the Kuala Semantan assemblyman.

In the seat distribution decided by the opposition pact, PAN - a splinter party from Pas - would contest the Temerloh parliamentary seat while Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) would contest six seats in the state.

PPBM would be contesting in Pekan, Lipis, Paya Besar, Maran, Jerantut and Kuala Krau.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) would contest in Indera Mahkota, Bera, Rompin and Kuantan, while DAP would contest in Cameron Highlands, Bentong and Raub.

In the 13th General Election (GE13) five years ago, the then opposition coalition, which included Pas, won three out of 14 seats it contested, namely Kuantan, Indera Mahkota and Temerloh.

Meanwhile, Syed Hamid said discussions on distribution of state seats for GE14 are ongoing.

"At this point, nine (state) seats were distributed to PAN. It is only that there are several others (state seats) still under discussion.

"We hope everything would be settled soon," he said.
