I will not be contesting in GE14: Khalid Ibrahim

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim today stressed that he will not be contesting for any seats in the 14th General Election (GE14).

His remarks came following reports that Pas leaders were against the Islamist party providing space for the Bandar Tun Razak member of parliament and the Pelabuhan Kelang state assemblyman to contest under the party’s ticket.

Khalid said there is no reason for the various quarters to be at loggerheads or be worried over the matter as he had already stated that would not contest in the upcoming elections.

He adds that his support to Pas was not beacuse he was seeking status or any positions.

“Alhamdulillah, I am grateful, there is no need for me to add anything else.

“All I want to do now is charitable work for the development of the ummah and the country.

“This was the reason why I chose to support Pas, a party which was based on charity and does

good without fear or hoping for anything in return,” he said in his latest Facebook posting.

Khalid said there some quarters who are uneasy with his close association with Pas but believes that the people can distinguish between truth and otherwise.

It was reported that Selangor Pas Commissioner Sallehen Mukhyi was agreeable and was prepared to support Khalid to contest any seats Selangor under the party’s banner in GE14 without joining the party.
