Terengganu BN confident of wresting back seats lost in GE13

KUALA NERUS: The Barisan Nasional (BN) is confident it can wrest back seats it lost in the 13th General Election (GE13) in Terengganu.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said the Opposition was now confused with its choice of candidates in Terengganu, no thanks to being led by two of the country’s former top leaders.

He said owing to BN’s strength and the Opposition’s weakness, BN was confident to wrest back the state assembly seats of Teluk Pasu, Bukit Tunggal and Tepoh and the parliamentary seat of Kuala Nerus.

The BN is also confident of retaining the state seat of Seberang Takir, of which Razif is the incumbent, to make it a clean ‘5-0’ sweep in the upcoming 14th general Election (GE14).

“But do not expect to win the election with the disunity within the Opposition.

“We must field winnable candidates, who are loyal to the party and ones with a big heart to win.

“Also, our election machinery must be strong,” said Razif who is the Terengganu BN chairman.

He said the BN learnt dearly in GE13, when it lost narrowly in several places, such as in Kuala Nerus parliamentary seat, when the coalition lost by 700+ votes, as 3,000 eligible voters did not exercise their rights.

“We are responsible for our own defeat. Please do not let the history repeat itself,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after launching the Gerak Gempur Tawan Parlimen Kuala Nerus and the ground-breaking ceremony for the Kuala Nerus Umno convention centre in Gong Badak, here, today.

Razif stressed that the BN was the government of the future, as per the aspirations of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s TN50 (2050 National Transformation programme).

“So, don’t fall for the Opposition’s tactics as they have no major issue against Terengganu’s BN-led government.

On the new Umno Kuala Nerus convention centre, Razif said that they managed to raise RM12 million from well-wishers as an intial investment for the facility that can seat 2,500, to be ready in a year.

There are plans to have a hotel and shops to generate income for the party’s parliamentary constituency of Kuala Nerus.
