PPBM Youth rejects Dr M's nomination as PM designate

KUALA LUMPUR: Some 150 Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) youth members handed over a memorandum to opposition de-facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to protest the choice of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the opposition pact’s prime ministerial candidate.

Led by former PPBM Youth Exco Muhd Syazwan Ahmad, they handed over the two page memorandum to Anwar who is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital, following a shoulder surgery last November.

“Pemuda PPBM is not agreeable with the move by PH (Pakatan Harapan) to place Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as PH’s Prime Ministerial nominee, as everyone knows that PPBM supports Anwar’s reformasi movement.

“Tun (Mahathir) meanwhile during his administration opposed Anwar, of course we can’t accept it if he was nominated to be the PH Prime Ministerial candidate, he said here today.

Syazwan said that as an individual, who was responsible for the creation of PH, Anwar has the power and strength to do something to prevent PH from continued to be used by Dr Mahathir to achieve his goals.

“Tun Mahathir is only using PH to return to power in Putrajaya due to an interest which he seeks to achieve, he said.

Zainal said the other main contents of the memorandum was on the need for Anwar’s intervention on the ongoing turmoil between the opposition pact parties.

“We urge Datuk Seri (Anwar) to do something to resolve the chaos among the parties in PH, including over the state seats distribution which continues till today,” he said.
