Refuting rumours, Riot says he will contest in GE14

KUALA LUMPUR: Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem has rubbished rumours that he will be dropped as a candidate in the 14th general election.

The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) deputy president and Serian member of parliament said Barisan Nasional (BN) would lose a seat if he was dropped.

“Our party president has said it many times, that I will not be dropped. Where did you hear the rumours?” he said at the Recognition of Prior Experiental Learning (RPEL) 2018 graduation ceremony here today.

“If I am dropped, BN will lose one seat. Let me tell you, I work hard every week to make sure that everything is being achieved.

“If I don’t want to contest in the election, I will tell the prime minister and the president.”

Last month, SUPP president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian had denied rumours that Riot would be dropped.

He said there was no time for the party to drop anyone from its list of candidates as GE14 would be held very soon.
