RM74m allocated for building Dengkil multi-level intersection

SEPANG: The Federal Government has allocated RM74 million for building a multi-level intersection at a traffic jam-prone cross junction here in Dengkil.

The road which connects Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and Kota Warisan is used by hundreds of motorists daily.

Dengkil assemblyman Shahrum Mohd Sharif said construction work on the road started early this month and the intersection was expected to be completed by early 2020.

“Eight per cent of the construction work has been completed. An alternative road has been built before the actual road is closed. This will be done in stages,” he said after attending 14th General Election Simulation Programme here today.

Shahrum, who is also Sepang Umno division deputy chief, has denied that the project was intended to fish for votes.

He said it was proposed three years ago in the 11th Malaysia Plan.

“This initiative by the Federal Government will ease traffic congestion, which is a serious problem, due to rapid development especially of new townships in the area.

“Residents of Kampung Olak Lempit, Banting and Ladang Ampar Tenang who use the cross road to get to Jenderam and Dengkil will benefit greatly,” he said, adding that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak would launch the project at the end of the month.

Shahrum said some 2,000 people from the Barisan Nasional election machinery had attended the simulation programme to gear up for GE14 and ensure that BN was victorious here.

The Sepang parliamentary constituency comprises the Dengkil, Sungai Pelek and Tanjung Sepat state constituencies.
