Umno may swap Jelebu parliamentary seat for MIC's Port Dickson to guarantee BN wins both seats

KUALA LUMPUR: Rumours that Umno would be swapping its Jelebu parliamentary seat for MIC’s Port Dickson is almost certainly poised to become a reality.

A source said that the swap of seats was important to guarantee Barisan Nasional’s win in the two seats.

He said that the top leadership of Umno and MIC had agreed in principle to the swap to assure that BN not only get to defend the parliamentary constituency but make efforts to seize the seat that was formerly called Telok Kemang from PKR.

“This is a mutual swap between MIC and Umno. The two parties are sure that this will help BN seize Port Dickson and maintain Jelebu,” he told the New Straits Times here today.

Rumours that Umno Telok Kemang division head Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, who is also Jempol MP, would be fielded as candidate for Port Dickson has been circulating since last week.

The Jelebu parliamentary seat would be given to MIC instead.

State BN chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan had previously confirmed that Mohd Isa’s name was in the state’s list of candidates that were being considered for GE14.
