DAP should win GE first before coveting posts, said Umno supreme council member

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP can continue with its daydream of wanting its candidates to be ministers but for that to happen, they need to win the election first, said Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

‘It’s not wrong if they want to dream. It is free after all if DAP wants to daydream over a minister or even prime minister’s position.

“But the most important thing right now is for them to actually win the election,” said Shabery.

“(Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia) PPBM wants their candidate to be the next prime minister, and I believe PKR also shares the same sentiment.

“With all this happening, it’s not impossible for DAP to suggest their own ministers or even deputy prime minister ” he said after launching the opening ceremony of Livestock Asia 2018 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, here today.

On Monday, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng announced that Nga Kor Ming, the Teluk Intan parliament candidate and Perak DAP chairman, will be appointed a Federal Minister if Pakatan Harapan wins the general election.

He had also promised Johor DAP chairman Liew Chin Tong, who is contesting the Ayer Hitam parliament seat, a ministerial post upon national victory, when he was announced as a candidate last month.

Following this DAP’s Zaid Ibrahim on his Twitter page said a “Chinese party” had already announced that they had two Ministers in waiting with “more maybe coming” but Malay parties had remained silent on the subject.

The former law minister tweeted:

“A Chinese party in PH has announced they already have two Ministers in waiting. Maybe more coming. Malay parties are silent on the subject.

“Thats how Malays behave generally, shy and reticent to make their views known. Nothing has changed.”
