KIMANIS: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman will continue to make the rights and interests of Sabah as a main priority of his struggle if he is re-nominated as a candidate in the 14th General Election (GE14).
The incumbent for the Kimanis parliamentary constituency said these included Sabah rights as contained in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and safeguarding Sabah from outside claims.
“I will continue to work and not only during the general election even though I am now the incumbent.
“That is why my philosophy is (when) I am in the country, I will prioritise Sabah and when I am abroad, I will prioritise our country, Malaysia,” he said after officiating the Ministry of Higher Education Mini Carnival (KPT4U) here today.
Anifah said to ensure the rights and interests of Sabah continue to be preserved, the people should be wise in choosing the party that can fulfill it such as BN which has proven to have fulfilled all its pledges.
“Hence we must be careful so that we vote for the right party that can fight for our (people in Sabah) fate.
“Now I am working not because I am hoping to become a candidate, but because it is my responsibility to ensure that BN wins,” he said.
Meanwhile Anifah said the government planned to make Kimanis an education hub for the state of Sabah.
He said the Higher Education Ministry’s intention to turn Kimanis into an education hub was a long term plan and the matter had been discussed between the two leaders at the state assembly level in the parliamentary seat.
“In this initial stage, I have applied to Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) to develop another Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) in the constituency by looking at the requirement and suitability,” he added. — Bernama
