Azmin to defend parliamentary, state seats

KUALA SELANGOR: PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali will defend both his Gombak parliamentary and Bukit Antarabangsa state seats in the impending 14th general election (GE14).

This was announced by PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail at a Jelajah Harapan Selangor gathering at the Kuala Selangor Stadium.

Dr Wan Azizah also announced that several other PKR members would defend their parliamentary seats.

They are William Leong (Selayang), R. Sivarasa (Sungai Buloh), Wong Chen (Subang) and Zuraida Kamaruddin (Ampang).

Meanwhile, Dr Xavier Jayakumar will defend his Sentosa state seat, which prior to this was known as Seri Andalas, while former Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah would contest the Petaling Jaya parliamentary seat and Leow Hsiad Hui the Hulu Selangor parliamentary seat.

Other candidates announced by Dr Wan Azizah were Amiruddin Shari (Sungai Tua), Suhaimi Shafie (Sungai Kandis), Dr Daroyah Alwi (Sementa) Rodziah Ismail (Batu Tiga), Dr Idris Ahmad (Ijok) and Haniza Mohd Talha (Lembah Jaya).

In Paya Jaras, Mohd Khairuddin Othman, who was formerly with Pas, is the choice for PKR candidate.

Azmizam Zamanhuri will contest the Port Klang state seat which was held by former menteri besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, with Azmin’s special officer Hilman Idham will contest the Gombak Setia state seat.

Other candidates are Rozana Zainal Abidin (Permatang) G. Sivamalar (Bukit Melawati), Chua Wei Kiat (Rawang) and Syamsul Firdaus Mohamed Supri (Taman Medan).

PKR will contest 10 parliamentary and 21 state seats in Selangor for GE14.

The party was the last of the opposition pact parties to announce their candidates in Selangor.

Parti Amanah Negara will contest five parliamentary and 10 state seats, while DAP will fight for four parliamentary and 16 state seats.

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, meanwhile, have the fewest number of seats allocated, and will be contesting three parliamentary and nine state seats.
