'Lembah Pantai minister' slams Fahmi for baseless claims

KUALA LUMPUR: Lembah Pantai Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Seri Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin today lambasted PKR’s Fahmi Fadzil for claiming that he did nothing for the constituency.

Raja Nong Chik said he had done his best for the people of Lembah Pantai so much so that he has been called the Lembah Pantai Minister when he was the Federal Territories Minister.

He said Fahmi’s allegations were baseless.

“Does he (Fahmi) know the history of KL and what I have done for it, especially for Lembah Pantai?

“So what’s this about, saying that I did nothing for Lembah Pantai? I can list out one by one the initiatives I have done for this constituency.

“The issue about the draft plan (of KL City Plan 2020), because of certain changes it was never gazetted, and you can’t be mad at Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, he had his reasons as well,” he told reporters when met at a walkabout session in Bangsar with BN Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.

It was reported that Fahmi claimed the problems today started during Raja Nong Chik’s tenure as Federal Territories Minister from 2009 to 2012.

Meanwhile, when asked about Fahmi calling him a veteran, Raja Nong Chik cheekily said if compared to PKR’s Langkawi candidate Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, he is very young.

“If compared to Dr Mahathir, I am very young. But health, the need and the drive (to contest) is more important,” he said.

Raja Nong Chik is set to take on Fahmi and Fauzi Abu Bakar of PAS in a three-cornered fight.
